Fauve Self-Portraits
"Fauve" means "the wild beasts" in French. Fauve artists are interested in using bright and "wild" color in their works. Students examined a Fauve portrait by Matisse and created a self-portrait using complementary color schemes.
The painting at the left is a portrait of Madame Matisse by Henri Matisse. It is sometimes called "The Green Stripe." Can you tell why?

Dreaming of Bicycles...
Students are earning bicycles being offered by the generous folks at "Elves and More." Each child in the school signed a contract and is striving to meet reading and conduct goals to win. We are creating a display to welcome "Elves and More" for their upcoming visit. We want them to know we are excited and thankful for this wonderful opportunity!
